Kids/Teen Cooking Class Series
The goal of these hands-on classes is to teach kids fundamental techniques needed to prepare a variety of basic meals. Along the way we stress kitchen safety and the proper use of and care of cooking tools. Each class will begin with instruction on the recipes being prepared included understanding the ingredients, measurements and procedure. Participants then prepare the items listed in each class with the guidance and supervision of instructors. The menus are designed to stress fresh ingredients and kid-friendly flavors. As the class progress the kids get to eat the dishes they prepared and ask questions. Each class will include two savory menu items relating to the theme of the day and one sweet menu item.
Two options: Ages 10 to 12 and 13 to 14. Please note, the group dynamic is critical in these classes so these age ranges are firm. For safety reasons, minimum age is 10 years old (no exceptions).
Part 1: Italy (1/11/25) - We start with one of the popular cuisines in America - Italian. We'll dig into making pasta sauces, a fresh salad and finish with chocolate and ricotta cannolis.
Part 2: France (1/18/25) - The kids will learn how the French mastered the art of cooking by making a seasonal soup, a sautéed chicken dish and sweet crepes.
Part 3: Mexico (1/25/25) - In our third session we head south of the border to make taco, salsa and a Mexican inspired rice salad. It's fun and festive food the kids love.
Part 4: America (2/1/25) - We wrap up the series with fun foods the kids love - a homemade cheesesteak with sautéed mushrooms, gooey mac and cheese, and chocolate chip brownies.
Note: Snow date, if needed, will be on 2/8/25.
